Description: This great performance poetry event reaches out to high school teachers and teens, but is open to everyone. There will be excerpts of Gina's book performed by local teens, a creative workshop activity and an open mic.
Inside Voices at the Girl Aquarium is a fictional account of a group of high school girls in a writing workshop, who use poetry to explore issues like love, loss, abuse, self-loathing and identity.
Gina Inzunza grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with BA degrees in journalism and English with a focus on poetry writing. She served on the East Lansing Film Festival board and helped with the children's film festival by running filmmaking workshops.
In 2010, her play version of Inside Voices at the Girl Aquarium was selected for the 2010 Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City, where she now lives.
