The exhibit The Dalai Lama and His People showcases renowned photographer Don Farber’s works, which are also available in his latest book His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This exhibit coincides with the Dalai Lama's 76th birthday and the Kalachakra Initiation for World Peace in Washington D.C. The exhibition can be viewed from July 5th to September 15th with a special opening reception and book signing on July 19th from 6pm to 8pm, at Tibet House US. The Dalai Lama and His People beautifully captures the many facets of His Holiness the Dalai Lama across a 30-year span. His quieter moments in meditation present the private, contemplative individual. He is also seen giving teachings to thousands on stage, leading prayers with his fellow monks, and offering intimate blessings. With each moment captured, compassion, joy and sense of purpose emanate from this voice of world peace, self-proclaimed simple monk, and leader of the Tibetan people. This exhibition also features stunning photographs of Tibetans– child monks at play, women bedecked in turquoise, men dressed in ceremonial regalia, and faithful pilgrims journeying across the vast Himalayas. This range of photography provides an excellent glimpse into the joy and deeper spiritual purpose resonating within this endangered culture of the Tibetan people. Robert A. F. “Tenzin” Thurman, the President of Tibet House US says, "Don Farber has given us a great gift, using his consummate artistry to open a window upon the intimate presence of His Holiness at home, out in the world helping people, contemplating the ocean of life with his unaverted gaze of love and compassion.” Don Farber is one of the most significant chroniclers of Buddhism today. He has photographed Buddhist life for three decades and has been a special photographer for the Dalai Lama since 1989. He brings the spirit of modern Tibetan Buddhism alive with the inspirational exhibition, The Dalai Lama and His People. By following his footsteps through this photographic journey, we receive a rare view into the life of this beloved world religious leader. The photographs in the exhibition are available now in Farber's latest book, His Holiness the Dalai Lama –a vibrant collection of outstanding photographs presented with brief biographies and teachings–published by teNeues.
