21 and over Indiana native Haley Fohr began her experimental indie folk project Circuit des Yeux in 2007, writing and self-recording disturbing, nightmare-like atonal pieces caked in distortion and tape hiss. Her debut LP, Symphone, was released in a limited edition by De Stijl in 2008, followed in 2009 by the more widely available Sirenum on the same label, as well as a 7" single on Dull Knife Records. 2010 saw the release of Ode to Fidelity, a three-song 7" EP on De Stijl which signaled Fohr's shift to more song-based material, letting her deep, haunting vocals and unsettling lyrics rise to the forefront. Third album Portrait arrived on De Stijl in 2011, sporting a much clearer recording quality, as well as a dirge-like deconstruction of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire" recorded live. Fohr graduated college in 2012, and moved from Bloomington, Indiana to Chicago, where she began collaborating and performing with several artists in the city's vast music communities.

Highlighted topics include race, socio-economic class and gender roles. Kiesza - Rockwood Music Hall 2
June 26, 2019 - New York

This event is 21 and over I decided to strip it all back and revisit my early roots for just five stripped-back shows. My journey in music started on a sailboat, singing people to sleep, before I began passing the hat in a coffee shop, trying to scrape by. This is a side of me that rarely finds its way out anymore, and before I go crazy dropping all this new music (that is finally ready), I first wanted to let a handful of you experience where I came from. And remind myself of where my journey began - what stone I was cut from. I want to feel a small intimate room again, and lock eyes with every single person in the room. And I'm looking forward to seeing both new and familiar faces. I'm going to play a bunch of your favourite songs and preview a bunch of new ones! The shows are small, and seats will be limited.

Arturo Corrales used in "folk you too!" for violin, piccolo (Alice Teyssier) and piano a tune from his hometown in El Salvador. Tonemah CD Release 'Red Dirt Remarks - Sportsmen's Tavern
June 29, 2019 - Buffalo

If the Eagles, Steve Earle, Dave Matthews and James Taylor had a lovechild, they would have named him Darryl Tonemah. Tonemah had no idea that when he began writing songs in college, that several years later, he would have played thousands of shows, made numerous radio and TV appearances, released six albums with multiple awards and nominations, all while building up what has become an international fan base. Despite all of these successes, Tonemah retains a deep connection with his roots and a gift for intimate storytelling that has become his trademark. A full-blooded Native American (Kiowa/Comanche/Tuscarora), growing up on and off reservations throughout the country, as well as his "day job" as Dr. Tonemah, has given him a unique perspective that is evident in his song writing. "I have had the blessing of seeing and experiencing a lot of things during my travels – some great, some heartbreaking, some funny. They all inspire song ideas, lines, chord progressions, and drum patterns scribbled on pieces of paper that I had in my pocket. They usually all manage to end up in the back seat of my car. When I can't fit anything else back there, I figure it's time to record another album... (read more)

Jennifer is a regular in two of the best large ensembles in jazz, Darcy James Argue's Secret Society and the Alan Ferber Big Band. These playing experiences led to her to create a band that would commission composers to write and arrange music for the often overlooked trombone.
