Young wizards will enjoy a trip to the Metropolitan Museum, in search of art that echoes characters and enchanted objects in the Harry Potter books. You'll track down serpents, Dumbledore look-alikes, and figures as scary as any Death Eater. The hunt is not an addition to or variation on Harry’s adventures, but instead references to the books will provide a surprising bridge to many strange and wonderful works of art. Christopher Myers, noted children’s book author, artist, and writer, in collaboration with Art Sundae presents We Are The Map, a collaborative artmaking experience in which Myers and a group of young people make a map on one section of Rockefeller Plaza. Madhvi’s Magical Daydreams: Children’s Art Workshop with Madhvi Parekh - DAG

In this workshop designed for children between the ages five and 12 years, artist Madhvi Parekh and Anu Sehgal, Founder and President of The Culture Tree, will lead children in drawing from their memories and experiences to create stories through images, much like Parekh did in her children’s book, Madhvi’s Magical Daydreams, which tells the story of her childhood in India and becoming an artist. Children will also get to spend the morning exploring artworks by Parekh on view at the gallery as part of her exhibition, The Curious Seeker, and will get to take home a free copy of Parekh’s book. Reflecting DAG’s commitment to democratizing art, the program is part of the gallery’s year-round educational program for children and young adults, including monthly workshops at each its locations in New York, Mumbai, and Delhi. Sunday, September 15th The Rotary Club of Cortlandt Manor will host the “Fifth Annual Westchester Putnam Touch A Truck” from 10 am to 3 pm. It will be located at 155 Highland Avenue where the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society holds their Annual Italian Feast each July. Westchester Putnam Touch A Truck will provide a unique opportunity for children of all ages to explore and learn about all types of vehicles - including fire, law enforcement, military, construction, farming, utility, delivery, emergency, community, truck dealers and more. The children will be able to explore, touch, climb, sit in the driver’s seat, pose for photos and ask questions to the professionals there with their vehicles. The professionals will provide a safe environment to learn about the equipment while they explain the use of each vehicle on display. Some may have handouts for the children or other things they can take home with them. There will also be a FREE face painting for the children.
