Waterfront Walks: Guided Park Tours - Brooklyn Bridge Park - Pier 1

Join our docents on a tour to learn about the history of the Brooklyn waterfront, BBP's sustainable design, and how the Park came to life! Event Information Wear comfortable shoes, these tours traverse the beautiful park landscape! All tours meet at Pier 1 entrance and last about an hour. Interested in taking a group tour? Groups of 6 or more, please fill out a group tour request form to schedule a tour. The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy reserves the right to cancel due to extreme weather conditions.

Sounds Unseen: a Photographic Memoir of the Calais Sessions - The Dumbo Improvement District

Sounds Unseen: A Photographic Memoir of The Calais Sessions chronicles a collaborative music project between musicians living in the UK and musicians living in the temporary refugee camps of Northern France. Between December 2015 and May 2016, photographer Sarah Hickson made a number of visits to the temporary refugee camps of Northern France to photograph The Calais Sessions – a live music project among musicians living in the UK, the 'Jungle' camp in Calais, and La Grande Synthe in Dunkirk. For the refugees she met, The Calais Sessions provided a welcome opportunity to tell their stories, to play and share the music from their homelands, or to pick up an instrument and join with other musicians. Sounds Unseen: A Photographic Memoir of The Calais Sessions chronicles the evolution of this remarkable collaboration and celebrates a vital human connection forged through the common voice of music.

Fact Craft: Study Hall - Pioneer Works

As a part of Fact Craft, Pioneer Books hosts Study Hall. During Study Hall, interested participants can informally meet and collaborate on their own actions with access to related resources. Each Fact Craft program is intended as a catalyst to critically engage with the production of 'facts'. Study Hall is an open space to help fuel collaboration and project development. Study Hall invites you to use Fact Craft as a framework for creative investigation, and to present your findings during our final program in November. If you have been working on a Fact Craft-related project that you'd like to present during our closing program, please fill out this form by October 27.

Internationally renowned contemporary dance company Tanztheater Wuppertal, under legendary German choreogrpapher Pina Bausch's direction, has stood at the forefront of expressionist dance-theater since its inception in 1976. Over three decades since its New York debut at BAM, the company returns to restage the original double bill as part of the 2017 Next Wave Festival. Set to the music of Henry Purcell, Cafe Muller was inspired by Bausch's childhood memories of watching her father work in his cafe in Germany during and post WWII. Alongside this dark, reflective and wildly beautiful piece, the company will perform Bausch's interpretation of Stravinsky's The Rite Of Spring, a frenzied carnival of passion, fear and desire.

No need to register in advance; sign-in takes place on site. Volunteers track the timing and marshal the course, but please leave your valuables at home as bag check is not provided. To participate, meet on the path south of Fornino at Pier 6 at 6:45pm for registration. The run begins at 7:00pm and the course comprises a full 5K.

This week at Live at the Archway, you'll be treated to a rare reunion of DUMBO's most famous Japanese pop band.Gaijin à Go-Go brings an infectious Japanese pop sound to the rhythms of 1960s style go-go music. The band self-released their debut EP Hello Copycat, which quickly got them signed to Sony Music International. The group released two additional full-length albums on Sony Music International's label, Happy-55-Lucky and Merry-55-Round, and their latest album, Go-Go Boot Camp, premiered as part of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Cherry Blossom Festival in 2006. GAIJIN A GO-GO has played at dozens of venues throughout New York City including the Knitting Factory, CBGB, Sin-e, SOBs, Central Park, Prospect Park, at the top of the World Trade Center, RUBULAD, and New Lost City. Gaijin à Go Go's Archway performances reunites some of the group's original members in a tribute to Pizzicato Five, together with a mix of original songs.

The Green Team is a wonderful opportunity to learn about gardening, enjoy nature, and make the Park look its best. All volunteers must fill out a waiver and bring it to their first volunteer activity in the park. Volunteers 18 years old or younger should submit their waiver signed by a parent or guardian before any activity begins; volunteers 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
