Terror JR - Warsaw
April 17, 2019 - Brooklyn

Terror Jr Finding the sweet spot between self-deprecation and extreme overconfidence, Terror Jr spent the last year creating an album they wish they had growing up. Now they are bringing Unfortunately, Terror Jr to a city near you. Kossisko When Kossisko first burst onto the scene as 100s -- a slick-talking, perm-wearing rapper in the lineage of Too $hort and Snoop Dogg -- his charisma was immediately captivating. The pimp rapper pesona, and the '70s-inspired aesthetic, that the Berkeley-born artist refined on 2012's Ice Cold Perm and 2014's IVRY earned him a cult fan base that clung to his every gamed-laced word. But, in the midst of this success, he began to feel boxed in and disconnected from the role he'd created. "I hit a ceiling and I couldn't express myself how I wanted to," he says now. "I didn't want to be playing a character." In 2015, Kossisko set out on a divergent course, adopting his given first name as his moniker and exploring other influences that ranged from Prince to Marilyn Manson. "I never say never but I didn't think I was ever going to rap again," he remembers. "You burn out on that and it's like, 'Now what?' There's so many other aspects of your... (read more)

Laurie Berg & Bessie Mcdonough-Thayer: Ez Pass - Roulette
April 17, 2019 - Boerum Hill

EZ Pass is the newest collaborative work of longtime dance partners and improvisers Laurie Berg and Bessie McDonough-Thayer. EZ Pass follows the path of least resistance, as the choreography cuts and loops around itself to reflect the added dimension of multiple pairings passing to and fro as Laurie, Bessie, and special guests perform increasingly complex displays of the choreography to comic effect. They move from object duets to human duets to object human duets, creating the space to opt in or out as relationships shift from said duets to quartets to solos to nothing at all. Your worst nightmare. Karl Scholz creates an original driving sound score, and Michael DiPietro adds beautifully crafted costumes and props. Laurie and Bessie began making work together in 2008. Their collaborative work has been shown as part of Charles Atlas Presents The Kitchen Follies, WeisAcres Sundays on Broadway, BAX Site Lines curated by Catherine Galasso, Mount Tremper Arts, Movement Research Fall Festival 2018, 303 Gallery, Dixon Place, CounterPulse San Francisco, WiM Festival, and Movement Research at the Judson Church.

Hatebreed, Obituary, Cro-Mags, Terror, Fit for an Autopsy - Music Hall of Williamsburg
April 19, 2019 - Brooklyn

Relentless reliability is intrinsic to longevity in the music business—or any other business for that matter. No giving up is allowed. No promise can go unfulfilled. If people can depend on you, they'll believe in you and stick with you until death. Since forming in 1994, Grammy award-nominated hardcore and metal stalwarts Hatebreed have constantly crushed with every subsequent album. Their six full-length effort and first for Razor & Tie, The Divinity of Purpose, proudly upholds that tradition cast in almost two decades of blood, tears, and flames. It's everything fans have come to expect from the Connecticut-based quintet—Jamey Jasta [vocals], Chris Beattie [bass], Wayne Lozinak [guitar], Frank Novinec [guitar], and Matthew Byrne [drums]—and more. Be prepared to witness their flame rise high once again… The Divinity of Purpose began to take shape in 2010. The band had welcomed back original guitarist Lozinak for 2009's covers set, For the Lions, and their self-titled fifth effort the same year. During a two-year tour cycle, they expanded their global stamp through performing to rabid crowds in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America. In addition, they ravaged the U.S.... Sonny & the Sunsets Kelley Stoltz - The Bell House
April 19, 2019 - Brooklyn

This event is 21 and over Nitro. Astro. Boogeyman from space. My name is Sonny Smith. This is a Sonny & The Sunsets recording. We started a label. Rocks In Your Head Records, named after a record shop I used to spend time in, in Soho New York two decades ago that uplifted me in a way only old record stores can. The first release is this record, Hairdressers From Heaven. We are going to put out some records that would end up in that old store. Some weird bands, some fictional bands, some real bands. San Francisco has taken hits. Clubs have closed. Artists have left. There are good bands in this city. There are great artists making bizarre shit. There are underground HAPPENINGS. There are SECRET shows. There are artists in the streets duking it out with Nazis. Shit is going down. The corporate bulldozers ran through the city and they are still driving around demolishing the place. These tanks are called Death and they bring a foul stench. Humbly, this label is our version of throwing nails at the tank tires.
