The Harlem Blues Project specializes in soulful New York blues with a twist! The band features blues masters Jerry Dugger, Junior Mack, and Barry Harrison plus a revolving cast of NYC's finest blues musicians including Bill Sims Jr., Michael Hill, Irving Louis Lattin and Solomon Hicks. Jerry was raised in Harlem and caught the music bug early in life. A fateful walk through Washington Square Park found him being introduced to the New York City Blues scene by way of the now infamous Dan Lynch Blues Bar. Jerry spent the next thirteen years learning to play Bass and sing, while also hosting the Saturday and Sunday Blues Jams. There Jerry Shared his stage with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Copeland, James Cotton and many more Blues Artists. His Bass baritone voice and thunderous bass playing have earned him a place in New York's Blues Hall of Fame. Jerry's band "The Dugger Brothers" are a staple on the New York City Blues scene. Influenced by Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Jan Akkerman, and Wes Montgomery, Junior Mack deftly displays these influences, although the foundation of his playing lies in the soulfulness of Gospel and Blues. That followed a year in which they hit No. 1 on Billboard's "Emerging Artists" and "Trending 140" charts, played to packed-house crowds around the world and racked up over 12 million total YouTube views and 15 million total streams in the US alone (the latest being more than 14.7 million Spotify streams and 3.4 million views for their "You And I" video). The band is led by 21-year-old vocalist Lynn Gunn, who the Huffington Post described as "a force that cannot be denied." Mura Masa - Terminal 5
October 12, 2017 - New York

The story of Mura Masa is one to remind people that there's still room for optimism about the "internet generation." At just 19, Alex Crossan has shown how someone with an appetite for knowledge, even if their upbringing has been isolated, can make full use of having the world at their fingertips without getting overwhelmed by "too much information." Not only that, but again and again he's proving that it's possible parlay the myriad of potential influences that are available to anyone with a broadband connection into something unique, coherent, future-facing and very, very popular. Like, Diplo and Skrillex co-signed popular. 30-million-plays on SoundCloud popular. Alex grew up on the island of Guernsey where "everybody knows each other" but the opportunities for young people, as he laconically puts it, "are basically: hang around beaches and drink." Most people who've grown up in small-town or rural environments can probably relate to the outdoor... socialising -- but this was an extreme case. It's not like you could even get a bus to the nearest big city if you wanted to go to a gig: the equivalent would be a five-hour ferry trip to Southampton. So culture tended to be a DIY a... Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue - Terminal 5
October 13, 2017 - New York

Trombone Shorty's new album opens with a dirge, but if you think the beloved bandleader, singer, songwriter and horn-blower born Troy Andrews came here to mourn, you got it all wrong. That bit of beautiful New Orleans soul—"Laveau Dirge No. 1," named after one of the city's most famous voodoo queens—shows off our host's roots before Parking Lot Symphony branches out wildly, wonderfully, funkily across 12 diverse cuts. True to its title, this album contains multitudes of sound—from brass band blare and deep-groove funk, to bluesy beauty and hip-hop/pop swagger—and plenty of emotion all anchored, of course, by stellar playing and the idea that, even in the toughest of times, as Andrews says, "Music brings unity." As for why it's taken Andrews so long to follow 2013's Raphael Saadiq-produced Say That to Say This, the man simply says, "I didn't realize so much time passed. Some artists don't work until they put a record out but I never stopped going." Truly. In the last four years, Andrews banked his fifth White House gig; backed Macklemore and Madonna at the Grammys; played on albums by She & Him, Zac Brown, Dierks Bentley, and Mark Ronson; opened tours for Daryl Hall & John Oates ... The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present Miss Coco Peru in "The Taming of the Tension" on Sunday and Monday, October 15 (6pm) and October 16 (7pm).
