This late-night beauty hotspot traces its history back to 1995. Before it became known as the Beauty Bar (it is literally a bar), it was a hair salon that ran under the moniker “Thomas Beauty Salon.” It's currently a beauty “saloon” and offers a terrific "Martinis and Manicures" special for just $10. Those who yearn for a perfect polish while relaxing with a drink can visit Monday through Friday from 6pm to 11pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, beauty buffs can enjoy the service from 3pm to 11pm. Walk-ins are welcome. 231 E. 14th St., 212-539-1389, thebeautybar.com

Those who have a hair emergency can head to the experts at Red Market well after other salons have closed. The recently redesigned salon is the brainchild of its founders, David and Reynald. Their contemporary-style after-dark salon is open from 11am to 11pm Tuesday through Friday. Services include everything from precision cuts to chic blow outs, up-dos, and a full range of hair color and treatments. The talented David and Reynald duo initially met while working for one of the most iconic stylists in Paris before they began working for Frederic Fekkai in Manhattan. With frenetic days spent behind the chair cutting and styling, the artists found themselves taking on clients during the evenings at David’s studio apartment. That’s when they realized there was a demand for late-night beauty services and Red Market came to fruition. Guests certainly won’t be bored while waiting. The salon features rotating art exhibits and hip music, which is played by a lineup of local DJs. Red Market is open on Mondays and Saturdays too, but doesn’t offer the late hours of Tuesday through Friday. 13 E. 13th St., 212-929-9600, redmarketnyc.com
