Sandwiches are good, but ice cream sandwiches are so much better, especially on a warm summer day in the city. These five New York City establishments make up the best (and most interesting) ice cream sandwiches in all of Manhattan. Next time you visit the city, make sure you stop by them all. These calories are so worth it.

Best of NYC Ice Cream Sandwiches: Mikey Likes It Ice Cream (Alphabet City)

Mikey Likes It Ice Cream’s Daddy Mac is an ice cream sandwich that tops the charts. Choose between a variety of waffle flavors (red velvet, chocolate, etc.) and any of the shop’s eclectic ice cream flavors to make a creation that won’t soon be forgotten. Ice cream flavors change seasonally, but expect to see the likes of Pink Floyd (double strawberry and cheesecake), Southern Hospitality (butter pecan with praline pecans and chunks of pecan pie), and Parliamint Funkadelic (mint with crushed Oreo cookies) on their menu from time to time. 199 Ave. A, 212-673-0199, mikeylikesiticecream.com

Best of NYC Ice Cream Sandwiches: Holey Cream (Hell’s Kitchen)

Donut-lovers go crazy for Holey Cream, where the ice cream sandwiches are made with donuts. Yes, you read that correctly. Holey Cream is not the place to exercise restraint as you create your own Donut Ice Cream Sandwich. Start by adding icing to your donut and then picking a topping (fruit loops, sprinkles, graham crackers, etc.) for it. Next, watch as your donut is sliced and your choice of ice cream slabbed inside. Melt in your mouth delicious? Definitely. 796 9th Ave., 212-247-8400, holeycream.com

Best of NYC Ice Cream Sandwiches: Melt Bakery (Lower East Side)

Specializing in ice cream sandwiches, Melt Bakery offers a range of cookie-based options for those wanting to indulge their sweet tooth. The Classic combines chocolate chip walnut cookies with vanilla ice cream, while those wanting to try something a little bit more adventurous can opt for Little Miss Sunshine, which combines lemon sugar cookies with strawberry ice cream. Additional locations in Chelsea, Greenwich Village, and Brooklyn. 132 Orchard St., 646-535-6358, meltbakery.com

Best of NYC Ice Cream Sandwiches: Macaron Parlour (Lower East Side)

As if macarons weren’t already delicious enough on their own, Macaron Parlour takes things one step further with macaron ice cream sandwiches. These sweet treats are the perfect size for a quick sugar break, and the range of flavors they come in are impressively well thought out. Flavors rotate regularly, with Apple Cider Caramel, Carrot Cake, Red Velvet, Earl Grey, Matcha, and Pistachio frequenting the mix. Additional location in the Upper West Side. 44 Hester St., 212-387-9169, macaronparlour.com

Best of NYC Ice Cream Sandwiches: Genuine Superette (Little Italy)

Just when you thought this list had covered all the takes possible on an ice cream sandwich, Genuine Superette comes in with a showstopper. Genuine Superette’s sandwiches come served in a hot brioche bun that’s stuffed with ice cream, syrups, and various toppings ranging from Fruity Pebbles to toasted coconut flakes. Sounds like heaven, right? As far as ice cream sandwiches go, it pretty much is. 191 Grand St., 646-726-4633, eatgenuine.com
