Stifler's Mom (The Ultimate 90's Experience) - Drom
October 20, 2017 - New York

Stifler's Mom pays homage to the last decade of the 20th century with its very own "Band Camp" horn section. With grunge hits from Pearl Jam, ska from No Doubt, pure pop from the Spice Girls, hip-hop from The Notorious B.I.G. and more, Stifler's Mom gets the party going with props, crazy costumes, movie clips, sound bites and plenty of other GenX/Y madness.

BøRns - Baby's All Right
October 20, 2017 - New York

BØRNS, a Michigan native who spent time in New York before landing in his new home of Los Angeles, is a preternatural talent. He understands instinctively how to connect the intricacies of a melody to the sensual receptors in the human ear, and how to conjure up a song from its building blocks to reach the heavens. Working with producers Tommy English and Kennedy, in 2014 BØRNS released the Candy EP, a shot of sunny, sweet, sweeping adrenaline to the pop music landscape that put "10,000 Emerald Pools" and "Electric Love" on playlists across the world. In early 2015 BØRNS reunited with English and began work on an album, writing and recording in between the steadily growing live shows, and with the stage in mind. Enamored of and inspired by his new home on the west coast, BØRNS injected much of that sunshine vibe into the new music that would become his debut album Dopamine.

The Amazons - Mercury Lounge
October 20, 2017 - New York

If The Amazons sound like they could be a gang from cult b-movie The Warriors, well, you're not far off. Just replace 1970s New York with the wilds of Reading, Berkshire, and you have a foursome to be reckoned with. The most hotly tipped guitar band of 2017 according to Music Week, The Amazons were shortlisted for the BBC Music Sound of 2017 poll, nominated for Q's Best Breakthrough Act gong and made an appearance in MTV Brand New 2017 list. They also featured in Apple Music's New Artists 2017 playlist and popped up in Amazon UK's Ones To Watch and Deezer's pick for 2017 polls. Meanwhile the broadsheets and music press have been all over them, with NME, Kerrang, Metro, Daily Star, Daily Mirror, Gigwise and Radio X all tipping them for greatness. Beat 1's Zane Lowe is a huge fan, and so are Radio 1's Huw Stephens, Annie Mac, Clara Amfo, Nick Grimshaw, Mistajam and Greg James. Frankly, it's not hard to see why.

Umphrey's McGee - The Capitol Theatre
October 20, 2017 - Port Chester

After 19-plus years of performing more than 100 concerts annually, releasing nine studio albums and selling more than 4.2+ million tracks online, Umphrey's McGee might be forgiven if they chose to rest on their laurels. But then that wouldn't be consistent with the work ethic demonstrated by the band, which consistently attempts to raise the bar, setting and achieving new goals since forming on the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana, in 1997. After releasing their eighth studio album, Similar Skin, the first for their own indie label, Nothing Too Fancy (N2F) Music (distributed by RED), the group continues to push the envelope and test the limits. Their latest studio album, The London Session, was a dream come true for the members having been recorded at the legendary Studio Two at historic Abbey Road. The stealth recording session yielded 10 tracks in a single day, proving once again, the prolific UM waits for no one. As a follow up to The London Session, the envelope pushing continues with the November 11th release of ZONKEY. Umphrey's McGee has been arranging and performing original mashups live for over eight years. It was only a matter of when, not if, some of those in... (read more)

Pickwick - Mercury Lounge
October 20, 2017 - New York

Listen to LoveJoys, the sophomore release from Seattle, WA's Pickwick, and you'll hear a band that has pushed aside external pressures and expectations, overcome internal demons, and plugged directly into their own creative center. Slinky, sinewy, and articulate, the record pulses with a palpable confidence. Hypnotically intricate, just-right sonic ornamentation shimmers around a thick, undulating bed of propulsive rhythm. Submit willfully, give yourself over to Pickwick's practiced ministrations, and you'll find yourself exhausted and deeply satisfied, slick with a sheen of glitter and sweat. Following the breakout success of 2013's self-released Can't Talk Medicine (which WXPN lauded for its "wonderfully engaging lo-fi rock and soul") the band found themselves on national tours with Neko Case and Black Joe Lewis, performing on the main stage of the Sasquatch Music Festival, headlining the Capitol Hill Block Party, and performing alongside with the Seattle Symphony. They holed up to begin work on what was to be the follow up release, and things got complicated. As the band was forty songs into writing a pop R&B record, they became deeply unsatisfied with the direction the music ... (read more)

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes - New York City Theatre
October 20, 2017 - Tarrytown

It's Soultime! Southside Johnny, aka the grandfather of the New Jersey sound, is hitting the road with his ragtag group the Asbury Dukes, bringing the brass-heavy soul of the Jersy Shore along with them. The band has been grooving together in various forms since 1976 and are often mentioned in the same breath as Bruce Springsteen, who's performed with them on several occasions. Catch them at in , , If you're looking for an upbeat night out, as the latest single (Looking For A Good Time) off the 2015 record It's Soultime states, then this high energy Jersey Shore institution will do the trick. Their sound is a combination of R&B horns and good old garage rock 'n' roll which comes together under the blue-eyed-soul vocals of fearless and charming band leader Johnny Lyons. Don't miss this chance to see these living legends strut their stuff!

An Evening with Bruce Hornsby - Troy Savings Bank Music Hall
October 21, 2017 - New York

Bruce Hornsby has built one of the most diverse, collaborative and adventurous careers in contemporary music. Bruce Hornsby's work displays a creative iconoclasm that's been a constant in the artist's two-and-a-half decade recording career. His commercial stock soared early on, when "The Way It Is"–the title track of his 1986 debut album–became one of the most popular songs on American radio. Despite his early mainstream successes, Hornsby has pursued a more personal, idiosyncratic musical path, focusing on projects that sparked his creative interest, including collaborations with the Grateful Dead, Spike Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Don Henley, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Metheny, and Robbie Robertson. Jaw Gems - Mercury Lounge
October 21, 2017 - New York

"Jaw Gems conjure the aesthetic of Flying Lotus….creating rich, neo-soul tapestries…[Their] keyboard lines roll butter-thick harmonies [and] wrapped snugly around them are shimmering synthesizers, classic Moog timbres, and trebly, swishing rhythms and high hats."– EARMILK Jaw Gems, an electronic outfit from Portland, Maine, is a collective of young, experimental producers bringing beat-music – traditionally programmed and played on samplers – to a live band setting. The mesmerizing result is a harmonic convergence. Combine legendary beat-makers like J Dilla and Flying Lotus with indie rock and electronic icons like Deerhunter and Washed Out, then add Radiohead's dreamy ambience and you begin to approach the sound of Jaw Gems. Electronic musician, Daedelus says "Jaw Gems have done the magic trick of delivering a thoroughly listenable instrumental album that you can also sing along to."

Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions - Brooklyn Steel
October 22, 2017 - New York

The delicious dichotomy between darkness and light, the space between inspiration and the manifestation of thought, is where Hope Sandoval's music and lyrics catch fire. Through The Devil Softly, her second album with Warm Inventions partner Colm Ó C"osóig (My Bloody Valentine), is a rich brocade of pastoral meditations that resonate with the kind of restrained yet provocative intimacy that only these two artists can provide. Well known for their reticence in the media, they've once again chosen to pour out their hearts and minds on record. It's been eight years since the release of the critically acclaimed Bavarian Fruit Bread, but Colm and Hope aren't ones to adhere to traditional timetables and conventions. "Time is vibrations for us," he says. "We didn't feel like [this album] was ready until it was ready." In the meantime, however, neither artist has been creatively idle. Hope has collaborated with Devendra Banhart, Air, Bert Jansch, Death In Vegas, and is due to appear on Massive Attack's forthcoming album. And yes, a new Mazzy Star record is on the horizon. ("It's almost finished," says Hope, "but when it will be coming out, I don't know.") Meanwhile, 2009 saw the reunion... (read more)

October 22, 2017 - New York

Max Cavalera is the walking embodiment of creative energy, of all of the diverse layers of urgency that are possible from that select few whose artistic output defines genres. Mystic shaman, protest singer, revolutionary hero, everyday metalhead, furious consumer of heavy music of all shades, husband, father, leader, songwriter… Cavalera reigns as the adoptive tribal chief of a generation of fans, stretching from the roughest slums of South America to the coldest confines of Russia. Anywhere that people are disenfranchised, the songs of SOULFLY serve as their anthems. Armed with Cavalera's four-stringed guitars, unmistakable growl and instantly recognizable riffage, the muddy tones and constant rhythmic bounce of SOULFLY has retained its gritty edge while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in metal. »Savages« represents a career-defining moment, solidifying the lineup with longtime lead guitarist Marc Rizzo (who has been in SOULFLY almost as long as Max was in SEPULTURA), bassist Tony Campos (Static X, Ministry, Prong) and Max's 21 year-old Zyon, who splits his time between drumming in LODY KONG and now SOULFLY. A trailblazing pioneer and musician with millions of alb... (read more)

Oogee Wawa Bumpin' Uglies - Mercury Lounge
October 22, 2017 - New York

Benjamin Booker - Music Hall of Williamsburg
October 22, 2017 - Brooklyn

Considering how controlled the chaos is on Eight Houses -- the bands latest album, which is ruptured by riffs and rattled by rhythms without leaping straight off the rails -- it's tough to imagine a time when Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant didn't finish each other's sentences, creatively and personally. But that's how She Keeps Bees began: with LaPlant bashing a borrowed kit (including a garbage-picked floor tom) atop a step-ladder and Larrabee directing the dark solo recordings she began after moving from Philadelphia to Brooklyn. The band, which formed in 2006, have been compared to the likes of Patti Smith, The White Stripes, and Cat Power. The New York Times's ArtsBeat compared Larrabee to PJ Harvey, but added that "far from Ms. Harvey's theatrical poise, Ms. Larrabee is loose, vehement and un-choreographed, jittering around the stage."

October 22, 2017 - Garden City

Bruce Hornsby brings his distinct creativity to the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center in an exciting solo performance. Bruce Hornsby will perform on Sunday, October 22 at 3:00 p.m. on the Westermann Stage, Concert Hall in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (PAC), 1 South Ave, Garden City, New York. Multiple Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby’s work displays a creative iconoclasm that has been a constant in the artist’s two-and-a-half decade recording career. His commercial stock soared early on, when “The Way It Is” – the title track of his 1986 debut album – became one of the most popular songs on American radio. Despite his early mainstream successes, Hornsby has pursued a more personal, idiosyncratic musical path, focusing on projects that sparked his creative interest, including collaborations with the Grateful Dead, Spike Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Don Henley, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Metheny and Robbie Robertson. School of Rock - the Musical - New York City Theatre
Through October 31, 2017 - New York

Hoping to educate us once again, Andrew Lloyd-Webber returns to Broadway with a brand-new show! Adapted from the 2003 Jack Black movie of the same name, School of Rock features bumbling lead character Dewey Finn, played by Eric Petersen (Shrek The Musical), the hilarious slacker with rock stardom on his mind. Not since 1971 has Andrew Lloyd-Webber launched a show on Broadway before London's West End! This new production, which mixes songs from the movie with brand new songs by the iconic composer and lyricist Glenn Slater, is a rockin' spectacular! Oh, and the book comes from Julian Fellowes, the writer of a "relatively unknown" TV show called Downtown Abbey. Nope, we've never heard of it either.
