Aurora Halal and Kassem Mosse - Nowadays
March 16, 2018 - New York

After a fantastic all-night set in January, Aurora Halal is back at the 'days. Aurora is the person behind the Sustain-Release gathering and the Mutual Dreaming party, as well as a fantastic DJ and producer with an ear for dark, psychedelic techno. This time, she shares the night with Gunnar Wendel, aka Kassem Mosse. Gunnar has worked under many names over the past decade — Paid Reach, Seltene Erden, the Siege of Troy, his actual name — releasing tracks that range from unhurried house and techno incantations to scattered, footwork-esque beats. He plays an hour-long live set tonight, to round out a night of absorbing dance tunes.

Grumby, Jose Santiago, Higher Education, Wedeya, Indaze - Pianos (Showroom)
March 16, 2018 - New York

Nils Frahm – All Melody - Knockdown Center
Through March 16, 2018 - New York

Nils Frahm had an early introduction to music, learning the piano throughout his childhood. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of classical pianists from previous generations as well as the music of contemporary composers, before forging his own musical path through composition. Today Nils Frahm continues to work as an accomplished composer, producer and celebrated performer from his Berlin-based studio at the renowned Funkhaus. His unconventional approach to an age-old instrument, played contemplatively and intimately, and on a mesmerising scale through his vast stage shows, has won him many fans around the world. Nils has gained global notoriety for his highly developed sense of control and restraint in his work, as well as a breath-taking level of emotion and personality. After spending much of 2017 in hibernation in preparation for a busy period ahead, Nils will commence 2018 with his first live performances since 2015, and will embark on the beginning of a long worldwide tour entitled All Melody.

Planetarium with Pyron Playing Live - Nowadays
March 18, 2018 - New York

Planetarium is an immersive hi-fi listening session. We clear the floor between our custom speakers, so you can bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags or anything else you like to get comfortable. Lie on the floor, stretch out on the couch, and get lost in music. Records are woven together from across the spectrum — new classical, electronic music, pre-war blues, new age, ambient, psychedelic rock, jazz, field recordings and beyond — and there are often live performances to augment the experience. For this edition, we have Pyron performing live throughout. Jennifer Pyron is a classically trained opera singer and experimental electronic musician. Using found sounds, vocals, spoken word and a KORGMS2000 digital analog modeling synthesizer, she builds improvisational compositions that drift from serene to frenetic and back again.

Cathode Love Presents - Music Box Theater
Through March 31, 2018 - New York

Cathode Love is a book and companion LP featuring carefully curated writings and musical content focused around a central, celebratory impulse of suggestive, decadent, and symbolically-charged works in film, theory, visual art, poetry, fiction and essays, all tapping on the door of a new, synaesthetic sensibility. Cathode Love is wishing to move us toward a new aesthetic culture, one that resides "away from the mundane reality" (and certainly from banal art). An irregular almanac of irregular pleasures, an untimely messenger, a hope for catching a glimpse of light in the mirror of impossible beauty across shattered art-forms...Cathode Love, in its book/LP form, is published in the spirit of an aesthetic treatise of sorts. An exploratory document, and finally an accidental anthology of suggestions to run with. From the fiery intensity of Antonin Artaud's language of theater to the passionate elevation of sleaze to academic loftiness in Stephen Thrower's writings, this strange new collection of wild flowers if a trip to the jungle, not the zoo. Nothing is caged, all is free. And that is it's beauty. Cathode Love is, at the very least, a new window to actively "dream into" regar... (read more)
