Female Mexican professional wrestlers! Canadians assaulting rock stars in 7-Eleven! Moped gang wars in Virginia! It is time for some Dangerous Docs, PLUS a special sneak preview of Whisker Wars, the new docu-comedy from IFC about professional beard-growers!

Some people don't know what they want out of life. Some people do. And some people know EXACTLY what they want and will do whatever it takes to achieve their ultimate goals, whether that goal is to grow the coolest moustache in the world, or to climb one last impossibly steep rock, or to be the toughest moped gang in town, or to punch the lead singer of The Guess Who in the face. Dangerous Docs are about this latter category of human beings.

Nothing is as it seems in a world of dreams, deception, and resurrection. Sometimes breathing comes more easily underwater.

The landscape of these films is clear in our collective memory, though we see much of it at night, in too-bright sun, while we are dreaming, or in an impossible dusk. Everything is a little off as we wander as innocents down rural backroads, across the crunchy gravel parking lots of last-stop motels, through the silence of carpeted hotel hallways, into our own apartments (did we leave the window open?), not knowing what we'll encounter next.

These films run along a spectrum but most hover in the realm of the dark. We are at times lost, broKen Down. The characters recount traumas, or create them. A pulse beats throughout the films, pulling us between calm and storm. Though the program varies widely, a thread connects the films, as if the characters are cut from the same cloth, a band of outsiders plotting to take over our world.

In Italian "La Bocca Del Lupo" means "mouth of the wolf." It is also the name of the bay of Genoa, as well as being slang for finding oneself in hard times or behind the barred windows of prisons. In his film LA Bocca Del Lupo, Pietro Marcello weaves all these meanings into a cinematically expansive and deeply intimate love story between two unlikely partners and the city where they dream of making a new life together.
