Superman Returns... and Debuts at Madame Tussauds

On the eve of the June 28 opening of Warner Bros. Pictures' Superman Returns, Madame Tussauds is paying homage to the Man of Steel today with the unveiling of its Superman wax figure and interactive experience, which allows visitors to get in touch with their inner superhero.

Madame Tussauds' giant dome theater houses the Superman exhibit and features a replica of Metropolis. To enter the experience, guests walk through a telephone booth. Once inside, kids and adults alike have a few chances to pretend they're Superman. A subway car "levitates" in midair, inviting visitors to stand under and "lift" the car. At another station, guests can lie atop a table and pretend they're flying; their image is captured against a blue screen and then projected above in the dome sky amidst the city skyline.

The Superman wax figure - modeled after Brandon Routh, star of Superman Returns - stands in the center of the dome and is positioned on a "rooftop" platform in stoic stance with hands on hips, chest extended, and head tilted upward. A hidden fan energizes the statue, forcing its cape to flutter and platform lights will illuminate the wax figure. The theater's enormous dome sky will feature a giant "S-Shield" and a massive 3-D billboard will play trailers of the new movie.
