Taste NYC with Patsy's Italian Family Cookbook

Now it's easy to get a taste of New York, no matter what city you're in. Sal Scognamillo, executive chef of the legendary Patsy's Italian Restaurant, has just released his second cookbook, Patsy's Italian Family Cookbook. Featuring a foreward by Ben Stiller (just one of the legion of celebrities that frequent the classic West 56th Street spot), the book has everything you need to recreate Patsy's dishes including their classic chicken cacciatore, stuffed veal spiedini and, of course, their world famous meatballs.

In addition to the recipes, the book features a host of great stories about the history of the restaurant (which has been open since 1944) and the calvalcade of boldfaced names that have dined there over the years.

However, despite the abundance of A-Listers, the focus of the book (much like the restaurant itself) is on family. For one thing, Patsy's still primarily serves the original family recipes that the Scognamillo forebearers brought with them when they came from Italy. For another: Patsy's has only ever had three chefs since it was founded and they all share the same last name (that would be Sal's grandfather, the original Patsy, and Sal's father, Joe).

"It's a blessing," says Scognamillo of the family affair, "it truly is. I feel so blessed."
