New York City is not only home to great cultural institutions, shops and events; it's also a place where there are plenty of things to do outside. If you're looking for ways to enjoy New York's beautiful summer weather, we've got some great suggestions for things you can do outdoors?from New York parks and outdoor cafes to flea markets, sporting events, and street fairs. Here are some of our favorite things to do in NYC this week that will get you out of the house!

Spa for the Soul- Planting Seeds: Calling Forth Mystery - Trinity Church
June 18, 2011 - New York

Gardening is an endeavor that plunges deep into the mysteries of the Divine. As part of Trinity Wall Street’s 17 Days Festival, Sister Miriam Therese MacGillis, OP will explore the planting of seeds as a single sacred story with deep possibilities for healing our endangered planet on Saturday, June 18th from 10am- 3pm at Trinity Church (offices, 74 Trinity Place and churchyard, Broadway at Wall Street). In the afternoon, Kevin Currie, Trinity's gardener-florist-groundskeeper will lead participants outside to plant flowers in the beautiful Trinity churchyard. Sister MacGillis founded Genesis Farm, a learning center where people of good will are welcome to search for more authentic ways to live in harmony with the natural world and each other. In 2005 she received the Thomas Berry Award, and in 2007 was named among the planet's top 15 green religious leaders by Grist magazine. Animal Enrichment Day - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

Animal Enrichment Day gives visitors an opportunity to learn about how Zoo staff enriches the mental and physical well-being of our animals. National Geographic Crittercam: The World Through Animal Eyes - Mystic Aquarium

Swim through tropical landscapes with turtles, dive beneath the ice with penguins and forage in the forest with a family of bears — experience life as animals do in a new exhibition opening February 9, 2011 at Mystic Aquarium. Through interactive displays, firsthand footage and evocative environments, visitors to the exhibit can explore the many stories and animals that are part of the science and adventure of Crittercam. The exhibit focuses on Crittercam’s deployment on seals and sea lions, sharks, sea turtles, whales, penguins, bears and lions.
