An Audience With Mrs. Moneypenny - The ultimate working mother and saucy Financial Times weekend columnist descends upon New York with her hysterical tales of banking, business and cost centers one, two and three. Part of Brits Off Broadway.
BABY UNIVERSE (A Puppet Odyssey) - The company known as Wakka Wakka propels theatergoers sometime into the future where a government program to save the population of an unnamed, dying planet in a dying universe is furiously underway. The few remaining souls live primarily in bunkers and have resorted to cannibalism. In a race against the clock, scientist-generated baby universes are being placed in the care of lonely spinsters in the hope that one might nurture to maturity a savior - a baby universe capable of birthing a planet that can support the relocation of the entire population.
Black Nativity Now - A holiday gospel pageant for our time and for all people. Set inside a fabulous show-biz church in the midst of the famed and scabrous landscape of Times Square, Black Nativity Now tells the story of the birth of Christ. This setting provides a colorful world of seekers, hustlers, and lost souls, providing the perfect jump-off for an evening of exuberant music and dance that celebrates humanity's need for hope and grace.
Blind Date - There's nothing like the thrill of a first date...anything can happen! In this brand new play, you'll experience all the excitement and awkwardness of love as Mimi, a Parisian temptress, goes on a different blind date every night -- plucked right out of the audience! Mimi brings the willing man up on stage and activates their imagination, exploring their version of romance. They are invited to play, to dare to fall in love and share a lifetime. It's thrilling, saucy, breathtaking, and completely dangerous and insane...just like love.
The Great Game: Afghanistan - Through the eyes of 12 British and American playwrights and the voices of those actively involved in the war and on U.S. and NATO policy in Afghanistan, The Tricycle Theatre Company's epic work spans three provocative evenings, the culture and history of Afghanistan since 1842. Part 1: Invasions & Independence - 1842-1930 begins with the first Anglo-Afghan War of 1842 and moves to Afghan independence in the 1920s; Part 2: Communism, The Mujahideen & The Taliban - 1979-1996 continues the story from the Russian invasion, through US/CIA arming of the Mujahideen to the coming of the Taliban; Part 3: Enduring Freedom - 1996-2010 starts with the events of September 9, 2001 in Northern Afghanistan, through to the overthrow of Taliban, the aid agencies working in the country and the current war against the insurgents. [Parts 1, 2, and 3 can be seen separately and do not need to be experienced in chronological order.] Trilogy days presenting each of the three parts will be held on weekends.
Haunted - When a captivating young woman enters the life of the quixotic Mr. Berry, his desperation to ensure her return causes him to declare his wife dead and give away her clothes in exchange for elocution lessons. But as the very much alive Mrs. Berry searches for a reason for her rapidly diminishing wardrobe, Mr. Berry finds both his relationships under threat. Starring two-time Oscar nominee Brenda Blethyn and acclaimed actor Niall Buggy as Mr. and Mrs. Berry.
Hysteria - Inspired by T.S. Eliot's poem of the same name, Hysteria is an award-winning play about panic, the apocalypse and table manners. A man and a woman are on the most awkward dinner date of their lives. Caught in the middle is their mortified waiter, haunted by visions of global catastrophe. Part of the Brits Off Broadway Festival.
