Time for the Holidays at Grand Central Terminal

With over 50 stores, Grand Central Terminal, the world's most famous train station is already a shopper's paradise. But December's events make it even more of a "must-stop" destination, with the Holiday Train Show, Holiday Gift Fair, and Kaleidoscope Light Show.

The New York Transit Museum hosts its 5th Annual Holiday Train Show. The exhibition features a working "O gauge" model train layout with trains running through a wondrous holiday scene. The layout, created by Lionel Trains, include famous NYC landmarks such as Grand Central Terminal. A selection of vintage model trains from the Transit Museum's Lawrence Scripps Wilkinson collection is also on display. (Through 1/15)

The Holiday Gift Fair in Grand Central's Vanderbilt Hall features selections of merchandise from over 70 outstanding specialty vendors. These handpicked vendors offer everything from jewelry to clothing and accessories to goodies for kids. Weekdays, 10am-8pm; weekends, 10am-6pm. Closed Christmas Day. (Through 12/29)

Exciting, vibrant and animated symmetrically choreographed patterns will dazzle and delight everyone in the Grand Central Terminal Kaleidoscope -- this year's brand new holiday light show in the Main Concourse of New York City's treasured landmark. The walls and pillars of the main concourse will be illuminated in a huge display of color and light created from architectural and historic elements and views of Grand Central Terminal and other well-known New York City icons. Each seven-minute show, accompanied by synchronized music, is performed at the top and at the bottom of the hour each day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for a total of 21 shows daily. (Through 1/1)
