Cheers to Good Stock's Detoxifying Soups

Welcome to 2018! Losing weight, eating well, and staying healthy earned top spots on many new year’s resolutions lists. Artisanal soup company Good Stock knows that we’ve all partied a wee bit too much the last few weeks. The company invites health conscious folks to indulge in the detoxifying qualities of its detox and cleanse soups. Good Stock’s owner Ben LeBlanc and chef/partner David Santos teamed up with a nutritionist to create these vegan and gluten-free soups. On a mission to help everyone reboot and strengthen their immunity, new soups will debut each week in January. Here’s the lineup.

January 2 – 7

Carrot & Ginger

Carrot & Ginger

Chef Santos draws out the natural sugars of carrots and onions by heating them up while they mingle with garlic. Then the chef adds fresh ginger purée, water, and a touch of olive oil. Carrots, onions and ginger are high in antioxidants while garlic helps to lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

DETOX

Broccoli & Greens

This detoxifying blend is Good Stock’s soup-style version of green juice. Fortified with vitamin A and C, omega-3, calcium and protein, Broccoli & Greens improves digestion, reduces blood sugar levels, and satisfies the appetite. Made with broccoli, kale, spinach, onions, and garlic, it’s ideal for those who are on a mission to shed some pounds.

January 8 – 14

Cauliflower & Cashew

This soup includes a creamy, nutty blend of cashews roasted in olive oil along with onions, garlic, and cauliflower. Full of antioxidants and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and phosphorus, it’s a healthy choice. The cauliflower helps with weight loss and provides high levels of vitamin C.

Coconut Parsnip

This exotic 100% vegan coconut soup enables soup fans to envision the warming rays of the sun and evokes memories of relaxing beachside. Coconut Parsnip is packed with antioxidants that will boost immunity and help maintain healthy skin and shiny hair. The parsnips are sautéed in virgin coconut oil with onions and garlic, and are then pureed with coconut milk for a creamy texture.

DETOX

Beet & Ginger

Made with roasted red beets, spicy ginger, apple, onion, and garlic, the Beet & Ginger soup is topped with apples and citrusy grapefruit. The soup offers a sweet, refreshing taste with a hint of spice. Red beets are high in vitamin C, fiber, and potassium while ginger is renowned for cleansing. It works wonders on the digestive system and can lower blood sugar, too.

January 22 – 28

Curry Cauliflower & Vegetable

This comforting, hearty soup is prepared with eggplant, cauliflower, chickpeas, onions, peppers, flavorful madras curry powder, and robust vegetable stock. The cauliflower improves digestion and aids in detoxification while the curry powder helps manage cholesterol levels and lowers blood sugar.

DETOX

Sweet Potato & Turmeric

Nutrition powerhouses in this soup include sweet potatoes, pink lentils, onions, garlic, and turmeric. The ingredients harmonize in this delectable soup, which is finished off with spiced pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, cilantro, and house-made fermented cayenne pepper sauce. Sweet potatoes are high in vitamin A, which helps restore damaged collagen while the spicy flavors of turmeric and cayenne pepper have high anti-inflammatory properties.

The soups are $7 for 12 oz. and $9 for 16 oz. All soups will be available at the West Village’s 31 Carmine St. location. Midtown’s Urbanspace Vanderbilt (E. 45th and Vanderbilt Ave.) offers all soups except the detox ones. goodstocksoups.com
