Chinese New Year Wishes Come True at Hakkasan

The Year of the Ram is approaching and if you're looking to celebrate the Chinese New Year in New York, direct your attention to Hakkasan. With an upscale, club-like atmosphere and delicious, authentic food, Hakkasan is easily one of Manhattan's best Chinese restaurants. But now through March 1st, they're pulling out all of the stops with a special Chinese New Year menu, created by their International Executive Chef Ho Chee Boon. Featuring a mix of Hakkasan classics and contemporary takes on traditional New Year cuisine, the menu includes spicy lamb lupin wraps, a dim sum platter and their legendary spicy prawns. The last is probably best washed down with their special New Year cocktail, the Kumquatcha: a refreshing mix of cachaça, Campari and, yes, kumquats.

In addition to the feast, Hakkasan will be honoriing the tradition of the Chinese wishing tree. Inspired by the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees in Hong Kong, Hakkasan will let diners share their hopes for 2015 by writing their wishes on red wishing ribbons that will be hung throughout the restaurant during Chinese New Year. A collection of these wishes will be shared on their Chinese New Year page and on Instagram.

Hakkasan 311 W. 43rd St. (8th-9th Aves.), 212-776-1818.
