The NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Institute in New York will present a conversation with Robert Zhao Renhui and Tuấn Mami on reimagining the complex connections between nature, culture, and homeland through decolonial botany at the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute in New York on November 12th from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM —at 19 Washington Square North.

The artists will discuss the idea of plants as symbols of resilience and adaptation, challenging binaries like invasive vs. native species, and encouraging a perspective that views plants through lenses of emotion, memory, history, and politics. Considering the climate crisis, this talk aims to reshape how we understand ecosystems, migration, and multispecies coexistence. The conversation will be moderated by Katia Arfara, Curator and Assistant Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at NYUAD. This free event is open to the public and registration is required to attend. To register for the event or for additional information on the talk, please visit the link here.
