The NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Institute in New York will present a talk titled "The Crystal and the Rose: The Impact of Crystals and Crystallography on Art and Mind," led by Juan Manuel García-Ruiz, an Ikerbasque Professor at the Donostia International Physics Center in San Sebastian, Spain. This event will take place at the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute in New York on November 14th from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM —at 19 Washington Square North.
The lecture will explore how crystallography, beyond its scientific impact, has profoundly influenced various art forms, including literature, painting, architecture, dance, music, and cinema. García-Ruiz will trace this impact through history, examining aesthetic debates and highlighting the works of Federico García-Lorca and Salvador Dalí as key examples.
This free event is open to the public and registration is required to attend. To register for the event or for additional information on the talk, please visit the link here.
