30-11-2018 12:00:00 01-12-2018 12:00:00 America/New_York Don't Play with Your Food On view Friday, November 30 + Saturday, December 1 at 393 Broadway (White-Walker), Melanie Dunea's new exhibition features 26 photographs exploring the visual intersection of art and food from some of her favorite restaurants such as Eleven Madison Park and Café Altro Paradiso, including a behind-the-scenes film. Following the success of My Last Supper, Melanie shifted her camera's focus from chefs and restaurants to the food itself - showcasing food's fun and simplistic attributes through gorgeous, visually arresting shots. She paints with a coal ash ice cream cone; she pours the contents of a deep red Negroni onto a stark white canvas; she swirls a coup of champagne until it shines like a golden orb. Growing up, Melanie often did the opposite of her parents' wishes, and this exhibition is a physical representation of the age-old adage "don't play with your food", seeking to break the cycle of monotony and see foods from her favorite New York restaurants in a new, beautiful, and provocative light. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=339747 393 NYC 393 NYC
