Jonathan Berger: Leonardo
The world premiere of this exciting new chamber opera, commissioned by the 92nd Street Y, features acclaimed composer Jonathan Berger's collaboration with architect and designer Gabriel Calatrava (whose work was last seen at 92Y in his illuminating, immersive collaboration with the Brentano Quartet in Bach's Art of the Fugue).
Together, through a series of vignettes progressing from the profane feast to the sacred Last Supper, Berger and Calatrava show Leonardo da Vinci — artist, scientist, innovator, inventor — on his most enduring quest: an obsessive search for the human soul.
