Vicente Rubio Pueyo (Department of Modern Languages, Fordham University) in person. DANTE NO ES ÚNICAMENTE SEVERO is one of the most important films from the radical 1960s Catalan filmmaking movement known as the Barcelona School. An impossible sentimental relationship becomes a base from which to discuss the possibilities of narrative construction. This collaborative film shows how history can be recontextualized by collective demand through a drastic reinvention of aesthetics. PLAY BACK looks at how reality is performed and constructed, breaking the imperceptible relationship between sound and words during a recording session of an experimental choral work. ABOUT BRIDGES explores how viewing is dependent on temporal perception and subject position: a bridge looks different to a builder, an architect, or someone walking over it. Elsa Stansfield & Madelon Hooykaas ABOUT BRIDGES (Netherlands, 1975, 25 min, 16mm) Pere Portabella PLAY BACK (Spain, 1970, 8 min, 16mm-to-digital) & Joaquim Jordà & Jacinto Esteva Grewe DANTE NO ES ÚNICAMENTE SEVERO (Spain, 1967, 75 min, 35mm-to-DCP.
