tolof (The Only Land of the Free) Film Screening + Q&A
Please join us for a film screening, Q&A with the artist, and small art exhibition of tolof (The Only Land of the Free).
tolof (The Only Land of the Free) follows the story of an imagined country that has just gained its independence. Brought to life through a mix of puppetry, live-action, and magical realism, the film follows a cast of characters as they navigate their new lives in a post-revolution society.
The film was developed during an artist residency at BRIC in 2023, and debuted recently at the Brooklyn Artists Exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. This will be the first public screening of the finished, remastered film.
The event will kick off with a short introduction, and then a film screening. Afterwards, the film's creator, Tatiana Florival, will do a Q&A and answer audience questions. We'll then open up the space for viewers to mingle, talk with the director one-on-one, and see a few puppets and miniatures from the film.
