Joseph Cornell Shadow Boxes: Lecture and Crafting Workshop
Joseph Cornell was an innovative mid-20th Century artist known for his shadow box assemblages. He was a self-taught artist who had no formal training. Cornell's studio was his basement where he built, painted and glass fronted boxes and created other various forms of collage and assemblage from found objects.
In this Bayside Historical Society workshop led by artist and Creative Arts Therapist Betsy Lazarus, you will learn more about the life and art of Joseph Cornell. Further exploring the creative process, participants will design a shadow box from assorted objects into a work of art both unique and personally meaningful. You are encouraged to bring objects both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional of your own to include in your piece; frames will be provided. No artistic experience is required for this program!
Cost is $30 for BHS members and $35 for non-members. Purchase tickets at www.baysidehistorical.org/events-1/joseph-cornell-shadow-boxes-lecture-and-crafting-workshop.
