Watch a 19th Century Base Ball Game
Bayside Historical Society invites you to Fort Totten Park for an unforgettable day of family fun! Watch the New York Mutuals vs. the Brooklyn Atlantics in a historical re-creation of a baseball game the way it was played back in the 1880s! The teams will wear replicas of the original 19th century baseball uniforms and use replica balls and bats from the time period. No baseball gloves, since those had not yet been invented! The players will answer questions from the audience and invite children to field grounders. Have a great time while you learn about the history of baseball.
This event is FREE for everyone to attend! Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics; snacks and beverages will also be available.
