Alan Broadbent Trio
New Zealand native, pianist Alan Broadbent, was a student of jazz guru Lennie Tristano when he received a 1966 Downbeat Magazine scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1969 Broadbent joined the Woody Herman Band as pianist and arranger for three years, after which he settled in Los Angeles. In LA, Alan became associated with many well-known musicians including Nelson Riddle, Natalie Cole, Irene Kral and Shelly Manne. In the late 1980s he became a member of Charlie Haden's Quartet West. Alan has won two GRAMMY® Awards as an arranger and has been nominated seven other times, including best piano solo and best trio performance.
