Bronx Rising!: James Baldwin Centennial: Another Country
Bronx Rising at the Bronx Music Hall: Celebrating James Baldwin’s "Another Country" Through Music
Join us at the Bronx Music Hall for the next Bronx Rising event, where we dive into the soulful world of James Baldwin's seminal work, Another Country. This celebrated novel delves into the lives of biracial couples and bisexuality, all set to the backdrop of rich jazz, blues, and Gospel music.
Our program will bring Baldwin’s vibrant musical references to life with a special concert featuring songs from legends like Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Charlie Parker. Experience these classics through the dynamic performances of Bobby Sanabria’s Quarteto Ache' and the enchanting voice of guest vocalist, Antoinette Montague.
