Brooklyn, NY - Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) invites visitors to experience Dance Heginbotham’s You Look Like a Fun Guy, an outdoor performance event inspired by legendary composer John Cage’s interest in mycology (the study of fungi and mushrooms) and his innovative compositional techniques. Performances take place each evening Thursday, August 1 through Saturday, August 3 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and include an evening of sensory wonder that combines live rebroadcasting with Omar Zubair’s immersive audio installation. Performance attendees may also reserve tickets for Mycology & Mingle, a pre-event party featuring delightful mushroom-inspired drinks and cuisine —including mushroom beggars’ purses, porcini truffle tiramisu, and a mushroom Manhattan cocktail—learn about composer John Cage, founder of the New York Mycological Society, and chat with choreographer John Heginbotham.
