Amnesiascope
Amnesiascope returns with two films from Japan's legendary Directors Company — Farewell Love: Rock Is Sex (Ryûdô Uzaki, 1982) and Harlem Valentine: Blood Is Sex (Shigeru Izumiya, 1982).
Door at 7:30. Films at 8. Runtime: 107 minutes. Contains strong violence and sexual content.
An independent outfit comprising filmmakers such as Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Shinji Sōmai, Directors Company embraced unique production methods to shirk Japan's studio system. Though economic pressure forced Directors Company to fold in 1992, its films and artists maintain significant cult appeal to this day.
Amnesiascope presents an extremely rare opportunity to see these films not available via American distribution or home video.
Venue: Brooklyn Centre For Theatre Research
