Join BSO on a musical tour of the British isles. Hear Mendelssohn's depiction of the black granite of Scotland's Fingal's Cave in his overture "The Hebrides." Then, journey to the English countryside with Ralph Vaughan Williams's folk song–inspired Norfolk Rhapsody no. 1 and Gustav Holst's pastoral Symphony in F Major "The Cotswolds." The program concludes with a twentieth-century masterpiece for violin: Erich Korngold's D Major Violin Concerto, a 1945 work derived largely from music that he composed for films in Hollywood. Internationally acclaimed violinist Stephanie Chase joins the orchestra to make this glorious work shine.
