Bryant Park to Present Eighth Annual Free ‘Square Dance’ at Bryant Park

Bryant Park will kick off the fall season with its eighth annual free Square Dance extravaganza on Friday, September 27 from 5 to 10 PM, complete with dancing, live music, activities, a cowboy hat giveaway, cornhole competitions, food and beverage from Hester Street Fair (available for purchase), and mechanical bull riding! Barn dance caller Dave Harvey will once again lead the dance sessions, the first of which begins at 6 PM and the second at 8:30 PM. Attendees don’t need square dancing experience--or a partner. The evening will also feature instruction in trick-roping, lassoing. The first 1,000 attendees will receive free cowboy hats. Square dancing is not unknown to New York. During the 1940s and 50s the city hosted wildly popular square dance events in places like Central Park, drawing up to 10,000 participants in a single evening. Bryant Park Square Dance is a free event that will also include a complimentary bag check. Food and beverage can be purchased on-site. For more information consult or call 212-768-4242.
