East Harlem–El Barrio: Where Art, Culture, and Community Intersect
View Website |
East Harlem–El Barrio is a conglomeration of Puerto Rican, Mexican, and Dominican influences of mostly working-class immigrants. It is also a neighborhood once again in transition as new arrivals from below 96th Street push north to East Harlem and begin to make their mark on the streetscape. But in the face of impending gentrification, East Harlem continues to visually and artistically display its energy, culture, and protest in street art and murals, processions, and street festivals. Explore this vibrant neighborhood during this guided, 90-minute walking tour.
