The concert will be the Orchestra’s first appearance at Carnegie Hall in ten years. The program includes NY premiere of a San Diego Symphony commission by composer Carlos Simon; Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5; and Dvořák’s Cello Concerto with soloist Alisa Weilerstein. The performance takes place in a milestone season for San Diego Symphony—the orchestra helps open the Dia de los Muertos Festival at Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) in Mexico and the 2023-24 season also features the highly anticipated return to its downtown home, Jacobs Music Center, following a multi-year renovation of the historic venue.
