Liberty meets Italian Grace
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Italian Nobel laureate Grazia Deledda, a series of events will be held in New York between November 30th and December 1st, including panel discussions and a film screening. A seminar focused on Deledda’s literary work and her legacy in the United States will open the series on November 30th, at 6:30 PM, at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò NYU (24 W 12th St, New York, NY 10011). The following day, the program will continue at The Italian Cultural institute (686 Park Ave, New York, NY 10021) with a panel discussion at 11.00 AM addressed to students and teachers who will share practices and discuss research strategies to disseminate Deledda’s work. During the panel, “Parole di Grazia” (Grazia’s words), an Alexa skill built on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the writer's birth, will be introduced to the public. On the evening of the same day, at 5:30 PM, the Italian Cultural Institute will also host a panel dedicated to Grazia Deledda’s pioneering contribution to the emancipation of women in Italy. A screening of Grazia Deledda The Revolutionary (in Italian with English subtitles), the latest production by documentarist Cecilia Mangini, directed with Paolo Pisanelli, will round up the event.
