Recent Cutbacks (Does a Sketch Show) at Caveat
Recent Cutbacks brand-new sketch series is back, from the creators of the hit parodies Hold On To Your Butts, Fly You Fools, KEVIN!!!!!, and Next Day Thrones. Join them on a weird and wild deep-dive into pop culture, done with their trademark physical comedy, lo-fi spectacle, and live foley SFX.

Featuring Nick Abeel, Duane Cooper, Evan Maltby, Kristin McCarthy Parker, and Joel Perez.

Nick Abeel (RCB Co-Founder) is a NY-based Dad and artist who performs, writes, directs, edits video, designs sound, and occasionally works as a foley artist. You can hear Nick in the Recent Cutbacks Audible Original: History of the 3rd Robot War, a 6-part parody lecture series he co-wrote and starred in as the T-Rex Professor. Nick is also a veteran company member of Broken Box Mime Theater, collaboratively creating and performing contemporary stories entirely through movement. DUANE COOPER is a graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse school of the Theatre. He has appeared in plays all over New York City, most recently in Solitary, as well as commercials, both National and Regional. Film credits include Notorious; New York, I Love You, and Cabin Fear. He recently starred in, and produced the short film, We Were Kids. He is a resident company member of Broken Box Mime Theatre.

Evan Maltby is an actor, singer, and native New Yorker. Recent New York: Only Human (St. Clements); Rent (Secret Theatre); Assassins (Theater2020); Puffs, KEVIN!!!!!, Kapow-i GoGo (The PIT). Regional: Rent, Sweet Charity, Big River, Jerry Finnegan’s Sister. Readings/workshops with Playwrights Horizons, the Lark, EST, Pipeline, The Civilians, Ma-Yi, etc. Film: People People, Lucy and the Stars. Kristin McCarthy Parker (RCB Co-Founder) is a NYC-based director and producer. Their work includes the Off-Broadway hit Puffs and its live capture (on Amazon & iTunes). With RCB: Hold On To Your Butts, Fly You Fools, KEVIN!!!!!, Next Day Thrones, and the Audible Original Master Lecture Series: History of the Third Robot War. Joel Perez is an award-winning writer and actor living in NYC. He wrote and stars in Beautiful, FL which premiers on Disney+ in 2023. He wrote and performed his solo musical comedy show Playing With Myself at Joe’s Pub and Ars Nova. Other writing includes Stir, a play commission from the Old Globe Theater which was developed at The Huntington Theatre and received an Elliot Norton Award for Best New Script and the musical Lost City Radio (NYSAF, Berkeley Rep Ground Floor, and Rhinebeck Writers Retreat). He is a 2021 Warner Bros. Discovery 150 Artist Grant recipient for his original comedy pilot You’re Tired, You’re Poor. He is the winner of the 2021 Voces Latinx National Playwriting Competition for his play From the Fountain. He is a 2019 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Playwriting from NYFA. His acting work includes Fun Home (Broadway), Kiss My Aztec! (Hartford Stage), As You Like It (The Public Theater), and Sweet Charity (New Group; Lortel Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical). Film work includes tick, tick… Boom! (Netflix). TV work includes Jesus Christ Superstar Live! (NBC), Person of Interest (CBS) and Odd Mom Out (Bravo). He performed with the UCB Maude sketch team Peach.
