Panel Discussion: Coexistence and Community From Nilgiris to New York
On September 6, 100 life-sized Indian elephant sculptures will migrate to NYC’s iconic Meatpacking District, in partnership with Elephant Family USA, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting coexistence between the human race and wildlife.
As part of Meatpacking’s programming to honor and celebrate the mission of The Great Elephant Migration, the BID will be hosting a panel discussion on key themes surrounding conservation and coexistence: Coexistence and Community From Nilgiris to New York. We invite you to join at 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 10 at The Maker's Studio at Chelsea Market in the neighborhood.
The discussion will explore a longstanding notion in conservation that there is a separation of wild and human worlds and discuss innovative conservation approaches that embrace the reality of humans and wildlife coexisting on a “gradient of interactions” rather than separation of the two worlds.
