The band's songs have been described as poetic and evocative, and their arrangements minimal, hushed and dynamic. Lowland Hum's engaging performance style is a seamless blend of vulnerability and comedy, paving the way for moments of intimate connection and levity alike. In early 2017 Lowland Hum released Thin, their third full-length studio album and took their new songs on the road for a nationwide headline album release tour; sharing the stage with Josh Ritter and Jesca Hoop along the way. In the fall of 2017, they released an EP of b-sides from the Thin sessions and, after supporting Penny & Sparrow on a national US tour, embarked on a six-week European tour. In November of 2017 they released Songs for Christmas Time, a collection of retooled Christmas classics, garnering high praise and top reviews from the Huffington Post, the LA Times, Paste Magazine and others. In the first months of 2018, the band has been touring the US as support for The Oh Hellos' national album release tour. The Band's recordings are becoming regular fixtures of curated playlists on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, where their following is steadily growing. Anna Tivel Anna Tivel is a Portland, OR-based songwriter who grounds her work in quiet stories of everyday struggle. She's a keen and detailed observer, and the characters in her songs come alive in small moments of beauty and despair. With three full-length albums out on Portland's well-loved Fluff & Gravy Records and a fourth due out this spring, Tivel spends her time writing and touring the US and overseas. Her most recent album, 'Small Believer,' was produced by guitar mastermind Austin Nevins (Josh Ritter, Anais Mitchell) and released in September of 2017. NPR praised the album, saying it "repeatedly achieves this exquisite balance of the quotidian and the sublime with imagery that's deeply poetic." Her previous album, Heroes Waking Up was hailed by Folk Radio UK as "a superb and sublime album from a voice that deserves to be shouted from the highest rooftops." http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=359170 City Winery City Winery
