Peter Cherches will read selections from his new short fiction collection, Whistler's Mother's Son, which runs the stylistic gamut from minimalism to satire to noir to children's tale to abstraction to surrealism without ever losing its sense of humor. Cultural critic Tom Carson writes, "Cherches is simply one of the funniest writers I've read in years. And one of the best." He'll also be joined by his long-time musical collaborator Elliott Sharp for an acoustic reunion of their avant-vaudeville act Sonorexia, a fixture on the downtown scene of the 1980s.
