NEW YORK CITY—Symbolizing good luck and prosperity, the exchange of red envelopes is a beloved Lunar New Year tradition present in even the oldest stories about this celebration. To ring in the year of the snake, Harman Projects is excited to host the 10th annual Red Envelope Show curated by Grumpy Bert. In the spirit of sharing this New Year’s practice widely, the exhibition features works from over 100 contemporary artists and illustrators from around the world working in a variety of medium. From newly hatched baby snakes to mischievous snakes in disguise, each artist uses the red paper envelope to share something inventive and certainly fortunate. Red Envelope Show opens Saturday, February 1st at 210 Rivington St with a reception from 6pm - 8pm. Many of the artists will be in attendance. A Lion Dance will take place outside the gallery at 7pm.
