Some say a picture is worth 1,000 words.

This spring, the Nuyorican Poets Café brings its iconic poetry events to ICP’s galleries for a series of open-mics with a photographic twist! Visit to share your poetic take inspired by our two new shows, David Seidner: Fragments, 1977–99 and ICP at 50: From the Collection, 1845–2019, for a live audience.

This installment of 1,000 Words will take place in ICP's 3rd floor gallery. Reserving a ticket in advance is strongly recommended.

How It Works 6:00 PM Check in. The open mic list is open for all attendees, sign up onsite, first come, first served. Each performer is encouraged to provide one photograph to perform in front of — please have your image ready to share via email upon arrival. 6:30 PM Performances begin. Each performer is allowed 3 minutes. 8 PM End of performances.

The 1,000 Words Open Mic series is hosted by Felicia Cade every other month at ICP. Upcoming dates: May 9.
