16-04-2019 12:00:00 16-04-2019 12:00:00 America/New_York Attraction Lab: Outer Space Edition | 7 PM- 9 PM Co-Presented by Guerilla Science Join us for an evening of sensory experiments that deconstruct "romantic spark." Throw on blindfolds and unlock the science of attraction with Guerilla Science, beneath the Space Shuttle Enterprise. Think you might want to go to Mars one day? Find out what might be the key to pairing up for a long-term space trip. Through a series of interactive rounds, we'll explore how sight, touch, taste, smell and movement influence romantic desires, and how you can spice up date night, or even prepare for a voyage into the cosmos, with a new friend or your significant other. No matter where you are in your journey of love or in the universe, this playful evening will have something for you to experience, enjoy, and discover. Those who are looking to meet new people will be seated in specific sections. Other attendees will be seated with friends or partners for the duration of the evening. Hosted by Chris Duffy, a comedian and staff writer for Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas on HBO. He's also the creator and host of You're the Expert, a live show and podcast where three comedians try to guess what a scientist studies all day. Doors: 7:00pm Show: 7:30pm Tickets: $20 – Single and Here to Mingle $20 each (must purchase 2+ tickets) – Couples and Groups Wine and beer available for purchase. Ages 21+. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the event, we discourage bringing large backpacks or bags. Make sure to keep valuables on you throughout the entire evening. There will be hangers to place your coats by the entrance. If you choose a "Singles" ticket, you will be shifting around the room, sometimes blindfolded, so please keep this in mind. FAQs: Is this like Guerilla Science's Sensory Speed Dating event? This event is not a speed dating event. It expands on Guerilla Science's popular Sensory Speed Dating series, focusing more on self-discovery and what science knows about how attraction works. During the event, individuals seated in the "Singles" section will be meeting new people for each experiment round. You may be partnered with anyone in attendance, male or female. We cannot guarantee you will be attracted to them (or that they're single, since it's open to all), but we can guarantee it will be an interesting evening. We will not be pairing people up after the show, but you're more than welcome to keep the conversation going with your new acquaintances. If I come with my partner or friends, will we be split up? Not unless you choose to! Fortune favors the bold, but for those of you who want to stick with the familiar, there will be a section where you can do the experiments with the friend or romantic partner that you came with. If you would like to separate from your group during the interactive segments, please purchase a "Singles" ticket. If you would like to remain with your group, please purchase a "Couple/Group" ticket together. ABOUT GUERILLA SCIENCE Guerilla Science creates events and installations for festivals, museums, galleries and other cultural partners.
