As a leader, Yamanaka has garnered international acclaim through her albums, including her intimate release "Stairway to the Stars," featuring Jazz luminaries Mark Turner and Orlando le Fleming, on the Outside In Music label. She has also become a prominent figure in the "New York Scene" through residencies at renowned West Village clubs Smalls and Mezzrow. Even during the pandemic, she captivated audiences with her inventive weekly live-streaming concert series, aptly named "Miki's Mood," where she showcases a stellar lineup of NYC talent, including her husband and frequent collaborator, drummer Jimmy Macbride. The series exhibits her extensive knowledge of Jazz standards and compositions, often presenting themed performances dedicated to iconic composers from the Great American Songbook and the world of Jazz.
