06-06-2019 12:00:00 06-06-2019 12:00:00 America/New_York Wendy Scherl - 'You'll See' CD Release Show | 7pm – 8pm In 2017, that irrepressible and sensuously soulful New York born and bred vocalist, Wendy Scherl, marked a memorable return to cabaret with her brand new show, "New Scherl in Town." That critically acclaimed evening was successfully reprised the following year and, in turn, has now spawned Ms. Scherl's first ever CD recording, "Wendy Scherl: You See." To help celebrate the release of this album, Ms. Scherl, along with her sterling trio, musical director Christopher Denny on piano, Bob Rennino on bass, and Rex Benincasa on drum, will take the stage of the Laurie Beechman theater for one night only, Thursday June 6 at 7pm, offering selections from that album, along with a sneak preview of selections from her next cabaret outing slated for the fall. The eclectic program at the Beechman will incorporate contemporary show tunes like Andrew Lippa's "Raise the Roof," solid gold standards like "I'm in the Mood for Love," and will even embrace a few choice nuggets from the classic Country Western catalogue. The evening will, of course, include the CD's title tune, Carroll Coates' delicious jazz standard, "You'll See." Directed by Barry Kleinbort, "Wendy Scherl: You'll See" will provide delightful evidence of Ms. Scherl as both a bright light on the current cabaret scene as well as a recording artist to keep an eye on for the future. An evening not to be missed. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=372934 Laurie Beechman Theatre Laurie Beechman Theatre
