Sacco and Vanzetti
The After Dinner Opera Company proudly presents the New York and Orchestral Staged Premiere of the opera SACCO AND VANZETTI, begun by Marc Blitzstein and completed by Leonard Lehrman. Directed by Benjamin Spierman and conducted by Lehrman, the production features a cast of 47 singers and orchestra, conducted by Lehrman. Christopher Remkus appears as Sacco and Michael Niemann as Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants at the center of a notorious case that drew worldwide attention. The men were wrongly accused of murder and executed in 1927, only to be exonerated 50 years later. At the time of Blitzstein's tragic and unexpected death in 1964, the opera was left unfinished, and has been completed by Lehrman with the approval of the Blitzstein Estate.
