Film Screening: Mama Bears
Did you know there are more than 32,000 mothers in America — many from conservative, Christian backgrounds — who fully accept their LGBTQ+ children?
MAMA BEARS is an award winning documentary, directed by Emmy Award-winning director Daresha Kyi, about the thought-provoking exploration of the journeys taken by Sara Cunningham and Kimberly Shappley, two “mama bears” —whose profound love for their LGBTQ children has turned them into fierce advocates for the entire queer community — and Tammi Terrell Morris, a young African American lesbian whose struggle for self-acceptance perfectly exemplifies why the mama bears are so vitally important.
This film is meant to jumpstart respectful, deep-listening conversations between Christian and LGBTQ+ communities in a safe, open environment. We are proud to be hosting a screening of the film in our historic Sanctuary space Thursday, January 16th at 7 pm ET!
This is a FREE event! Reserve your tickets here or grab them at the door on the day of the event, subject to availability.
