Marie Watt Sewing Circle SOLD OUT
This free program is in conjunction with Hunterdon Art Museum's exhibition, Companion Species (At What Cost): The Works of Marie Watt. Sewing Circles are an essential part of Marie Watt's work. Gather together with others to stitch pre-selected words onto panels made from pieces of reclaimed wool blankets. The panels often start with Indigenous points of view that become touchstones for cross-cultural knowledge sharing and connection between participants. Watt incorporates the panels into future artwork. In exchange for your time and stitches, you will receive a limited-edition print from the artist. Watt’s Sewing Circles have taken place in numerous locations, including the Peabody Essex Museum, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Yale University Art Gallery. Click here to learn more about Watt and her work. Walk-ins are welcome but RSVPs are encouraged for this event. Come to sew, or just come to watch - all are welcome! Masks and proof of vaccination are required to participate. This program is made possible by generous funding from The Coby Foundation, Ltd.
