Little Manila Queens: Mabuhay!
"Little Manila Queens: Mabuhay!" focuses on the Woodside Little Manila neighborhood in Queens and the migration policies that have brought Filipino workers outside the Philippines.
Exported labor from the Philippines accounts for most of the healthcare workers in New York over the last fifty years. Many of these care workers live in the neighborhood surrounding Elmhurst Hospital, which was the most severely impacted care facility during COVID-19. The exhibition spans murals, banners, and dances in collaboration with members of the Philippine diaspora in Queens. It's also thanks to Little Manila Queens Bayanihan Arts, a grassroots collective of artists and cultural workers who celebrate the diasporic Filipino communities in Woodside, Queens, and throughout New York.
