Wining and Dining in 1820s and 1830s New York City: A Culinary History Tour
Join us and whet your appetite for a taste of history! Step back in time and learn about the foods and culinary trends of the 1820s and 1830s.
In addition to regularly scheduled tours of the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, we are delighted to launch a series of special programs highlighting different themes and historical subjects.
“Wining and Dining in 1820s and 1830s New York City,” is not a tasting, but you will get a taste of how guests experienced food and drink at a day hotel like the Mount Vernon Hotel, nestled in the “countryside” of New York City. A sampling of historic recipes with modern interpretations will be provided during the program, which will focus on the Tavern Room, Dining Room, and Kitchen.
